A New Googlebot Crawler From Google Named GoogleProducer

Google may be crawling the web with a new crawler, a new Googlebot, named GoogleProducer. This useragent is not listed on the official Google crawlers page but maybe it is too new to be listed yet?
Hernán Marsili spotted this and asked Google about this on Twitter. He said, “we are seeing a lot of traffic to publisher’s sites with a new user-agent ‘GoogleProducer; (+http://goo.gl/7y4SX) ‘. Our WAF is currently blocking it, but it’s origin is actually Google Proxy hosts. Is this legit traffic?”
That link goes to this page that 404s within the Google News Producer section.
As an FYI, Google Producer is part of Google News and Google Currents, I believe. This help document from Google says, “You will use Google Currents producer to manage your issues (e.g., pricing, description, etc.) for Google Play Magazines. If you’re participating in Google Currents, Producer will look familiar to you. You can manage both your edition(s) for Google Currents and your issues for Google Play Magazines through Producer. See our article on publisher account setup for the steps you need to take to fully set up your publisher account and magazines for Play. If you have any questions about using Producer for Google Currents, please see the Currents Producer Help Center.” Note, the Currents Producer Help Center redirects to the Google Publisher Center help center.
John Mueller of Google said he will look into it:
I’ll check – thanks for pinging.

I guess we will see what he says but until then, I do suspect this is a legit Googlebot crawler.

Google View In 3D Product Results With QR Code On Desktop Search

The other day we reported that Google was showing 3D product images not just on mobile search but on desktop. Now, Google is testing showing a QR code that the searcher can scan with their mobile phone so they can quickly see the product in 3D, since that is hard to do on desktop devices.
Brian Freiesleben posted a screenshot of this on Twitter showing the QR code displayed after clicking on a product. It says “scan the QR code with your mobile phone camera to view the item in your space.” This way you can see the 3D product image using augmented reality in your space.
Here is his screenshot:
Brian wrote, “Wow, okay so I was just added into this test again and spotted a new addition to this feature for 3D/AR on desktop. Google is testing displaying a QR code that you can scan with your mobile device camera to view the item in your space. Interesting.”
This is a smart way for Google to handle this feature on desktop.

Google Ads synchronisiert Spalten und Segmente über MCC-Konten hinweg

Google Ads now lets advertisers sync columns and segments across the same or different accounts, using MCC accounts. There is this option to let you choose which account to apply your preferences from in the Google Ads dashboard.
This was spotted by Natasha Kaurra and posted on Twitter, she said, “Spotted New Google Ad Feature: You can sync the same column set across all MCC Accounts.” Here is her screenshot:
I do not follow this level of detail in Google Ads, so I assume this is new. I did try to find examples of people who wrote about this and I could not find it.
I also assume this is something that can be pretty useful and a big time savings for some applications.

Volatilität des Ranking-Updates für den Google-Suchalgorithmus

It has actually been a couple of weeks since we last reported on a Google search ranking update, May 22/23rd, so it has been a while. But I am seeing new signs of another unconfirmed Google search algorithm ranking update today, around June 6th.
I am seeing both a spike in chatter within the SEO community and many of the tools are showing volatility today, June 6th.
As a reminder, we had reported on four previous unconfirmed Google Search ranking updates; one around May 22/23rd, then around May 17t, then on May 10th and the other around early May. There were some other signs of an update between but honestly, I did not cover it because not all the marks I track hit on those.
SEO Chatter
The ongoing WebmasterWorld thread and new comments hier drüben started to pick up the changes. Here are some quotes from the SEO community on what they are seeing this morning:
Once again, a huge increase in traffic all day Sunday and Monday. Eight new high-budget customer inquiries were submitted from my website and also phone calls in less than 18 hours from across the USA, Europe, and Dubai. That’s after two weeks of almost no inquiries at all. If this pattern holds, it will be over by tomorrow, and then 10-14 more days of complete silence. Is anyone else seeing a huge increase of real traffic in the last 48 hours or so.
I was going to say this before, but every update you have ichthyous mirrors my own exactly. My site is a content-based blog, however. So yes, Sunday and Monday a jump in traffic from Google after a long ten days or so where it was suppressed. The ten days or so was also the longest stretch in a while where Google did not turn the taps back on. Usually, the throttled traffic had a daily rhythm to it.
Same here, I see inquiries again and some conversions. Traffic is increasing a bit (not yet covering the loss from last month but I’ll take it).
I have exactly the same pattern as you ichthyous, I had a 2 weeks of complete silence, nothing, no email, no conversion attempt (abandon cart). Totally dead. And since 1st of June started to come back little by little.
Today, again, the fluctuation is very high; every refresh is changing the SERP rankings. No next page links bug also coming often. My websites are dancing 1st page, 2nd page no proper traffic today
Something happening today, right? Currently, only 3 of the trackers are showing volatility, but seeing some chatter on forums in Japanese and Spanish… but not seeing anything in the English language… yet. Personally, my G traffic is down at least 55% in the last 16 hours… ?
Today, again, the fluctuation is very high; every refresh is changing the SERP rankings. No next page links bug also coming often. My websites are dancing 1st page, 2nd page no proper traffic today
Thank you for confirming it’s not just me seeing fluctuations and SERP anomalies, but sorry to hear you’re also not getting proper traffic.
Google-Tracking-Tools
Here is what the tools are showing and Mozcast, Algoroo and SERPstat might be one of the few picking it up.
RankRanger (this should heat up in a couple of hours):
So it seems things are heating up a bit this morning, and we will continue to track it over the coming days…
