Father says Facebook ‘friend’ asked about sexual solicitation of daughter

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A single father says what began as an innocent conversation on social media turned perilous when he began receiving threats of violence and death.

Logan Lunsford was recently on Facebook when someone who claimed to be another single parent reached out to him. Lunsford initially believed the person might have been looking for a friend, WXIX reports.

“At first, I felt sorry for the guy,” Lunsford said. “Then, it just all of a sudden changed.”

Lunsford, who lives in Clermont County, Ohio, was contacted by a person Wednesday night on Facebook who claimed to also be a single father from Cincinnati.

“I relate to that a lot, and I know that it’s hard as a single father to make friends,” he said. “And so, I held a conversation with him.”

Lunsford says the tone of the conversation changed on a dime.

“It turned really quickly into him talking about his daughter and basically trying to exchange my daughter and his daughter for sexual solicitation,” he said.

Lunsford’s daughter is 5 years old. The person messaging him claimed to have a daughter younger than her.

Lunsford says he couldn’t believe his eyes when the messages started coming in.

“I just… I’ve never had anything like this happen before,” he said. “I’m still stunned from it.”

The messages kept coming, even after Lunsford refused the solicitation and told the person to leave him alone. In fact, they escalated.

“He threatened to basically kill me, tie me up, force me to do it… I don’t know if it’s a real person, someone behind a mask. You never know with social media who it can really be,” he said.

Lunsford contacted the Union Township Police Department.

Above all else, he wants other families to learn the same lesson as him: they should be careful about what they post online.

“I would say to try to make your profile as private as possible. Make sure your profile picture is of yourself and just lock down all your other photos, so only your friends can see them, if you’re going to post photos of your kid,” Lunsford said.

Following the incident, Lunsford says he’s reconsidering having any social media accounts.

“It’s really hard to find out where people really are these days. They could say they’re in another country, and they could be right next door to you,” he said.

Celebrities who have visited Dr Nandipha's clinic

Celebrity aesthetics doctor Nandipha Magudumana has been in the news for all the wrong reasons the past few weeks as it appears she has been implicated in the Thabo Bester “Facebook rapist” saga.

Dr Nandipha as she is popularly known is a name that first started doing the rounds on the news after her brother Nkosinathi Sekeleni exposed her relationship with Bester on Facebook.

Connection to ‘Facebook rapist’

Sekeleni revealed that the convicted rapist was still alive and had not died in the Maugangu Correctional Centre fire in Bloemfontein, Free State, on 3 May 2022.

The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) confirmed the DNA of the body found in Bester’s cell did not match him.

Bester and Dr Nandipha were spotted in Sandton shopping in Woolworths over two months ago, with the pictures of the couple going viral.

There are allegations that Bester and Dr Nandipha ran several scams such as construction projects, but never delivered the goods. It has also been reported but not confirmed that the doctor may be married to the convict.

The public and media attention is fully on the couple and their whereabouts. Authorities have launched a manhunt for Bester, whilst Dr Nandipha’s whereabouts are also unknown despite her aesthetic boutique business still operational.

It was reported earlier this week that the doctor had abandoned her rented Hyde Park mansion.

Dr Nandi’s  Aesthetic Medical Boutique

Dr Nandipha’s Aesthetic Medical Boutique is located in Sandton at Optimum Medical Aesthetics, a company she founded.

The aesthetic boutique specialises in weight loss, body contouring, botox and fillers, scars and stretchmarks, skincare, hair restoration and dermaplaning.

With the scandal surrounding her, it was posted on her Instagram last week that her business would be accepting bookings once again from 29 March.

On the aesthetic business page, they wrote: “We would like to notify all our clients that Dr Nandipha will be available from next week. We kindly appreciate your patience during this time”.

However, there was no sighting of the doctor on Wednesday.

Because the aesthetics industry is huge among celebrities, some have walked into Dr Nandipha’s office. The doctor has also appeared on TV shows such as Afternoon Express, Health Matters on eNCA and MacG’s podcast promoting her business.

These include model and TV producer Sean McCollet, Moshe Ndiki who defended her on social media, MC and media personality Leroy Marc and a visit by former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi in February 2020.

Tunzi also received treatment at the boutique in 2019.

In 2019, Optimum Medical Aesthetics was the official aesthetics sponsor for Miss South Africa 2019.

Dr Nandipha has been photographed and surrounded by celebrities such as Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, LeAnne Dlamini and LeAnne Dlamini.

(Reuters) – Meta Platforms Inc executives are discussing a company-wide ban on political advertising in Europe due to concerns that Facebook (NASDAQ:) and Instagram will be unable to comply with upcoming EU regulations targeting online campaigns, the Financial Times reported on Thursday.

EU lawmakers in February agreed to tougher rules on targeted political advertising aimed at countering misinformation during elections. The proposed rules require U.S. tech giants to provide more data on their targeted political ads, with fines up to 4% of their global turnover for breaches.

Meta executives are concerned the definition of political ads under EU plans will be excessively broad that it will be easier to refuse all paid-for political campaigns on the company’s sites, the newspaper said, citing two people briefed on the discussions.

The European Commission last December warned Facebook parent Meta that it was breaching EU antitrust laws by distorting competition in markets for online classified advertising and abusing its dominant position.

Meta didn’t immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Extremely Rare Amur Leopard Cubs Make Their Debut at the San Diego Zoo!

Extremely Rare Amur Leopard Cubs Make Their Debut at the San Diego Zoo!

It’s been an exciting few months for zoos across the U.S. as cubs of vulnerable or endangered species are being born. This is terrific news for conservationists working against the clock to save animals teetering on the brink of extinction.

Yesterday, it was announced by the San Diego Zoo that twin Amur leopard cubs had been born at the facility, which is a major boon for the world’s most endangered big cat species anywhere on the planet.

Wildlife Baby Boom

The tiny twins’ mother, known as Satka, is said to be doing well. “Satka is fur-miliar with her motherly duties,” a recent Facebook post read. “When she’s not in the den grooming and nursing the cubs, she is keeping a watchful eye as they begin to explore the habitat outside.”

There’s no word yet on whether or not the babies had been named, but often times zoos will ask the public for help in choosing a moniker — or two! For instance, last year, the Cincinnati Zoo asked for the public’s assistance in naming a new baby hippo that was the little brother of the renowned Fiona.

Critically Endangered Species

This most recent arrival makes the third set of Amur leopard twins to be born in San Diego over the years. These new births help to increase the rare animal’s plummeting populations with only about 120 specimens estimated to be left in the wild, according to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

The animals are known for their thick, luxurious coats and full furry tails they’re able to wrap around themselves for added warmth. During winter months, the hairs can grow up to nearly 3 inches in length!

The Amur leopard is a leopard subspecies native to the Primorye region of southeastern Russia and northern China. In the wild, they live to be between 10 and 15 years old. Listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List, there are only a handful estimated to survive in southeastern Russia and northeastern China today. That’s why these small milestones are far more significant than most people realize.

Andean Bears

In more baby-milestone news, visitors to the Smithsonian Zoo in Washington, D.C., were treated to the first sightings of twin Andean bear cubs this week on display in their specially designed habitat. Named Sean and Ian, Andean bears are listed as “vulnerable” on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species. Today, it’s estimated that less than 20,000 of the animals are left in the wild.

You can view the short video of the adorable leopard cubs on the Zoo’s Facebook page or via YouTube below.
