Policyer för förbjuden användning av Googles generativa AI-modeller

On March 14th, Google published its Generative AI prohibited use policy that states where you are not allowed to use its AI features to create content and information. This is not specific to search but as many of you can imagine, this might one day, bridge over to Google’s webmaster guidelines (or search essentials).
I spotted this first via 9to5Google and then Glenn Gabe who posted about this on Twitter who said, “Google publishes its Generative AI ‘prohibited use policy’ and other terms. Including: “Misleading claims of expertise or capability made particularly in sensitive areas (e.g. health, finance, government services, or legal).”
Glenn is highlighting the use of generative AI being prohibited when you “generate and distribute content intended to misinform, misrepresent or mislead,” including “sensitive areas (e.g. health, finance, government services, or legal).” Sounds like the YMYL categories? Sure.
Both Lily Ray and Marie Haynes went with that take:
Big news regarding Google’s new AI products:
Misleading users by claiming AI is an expert in YMYL topics – or pretending YMYL content was written by a human when it was actually generated by AI – is against Google’s terms of service.
Great catch by @Marie_Haynes https://t.co/U3vuPwvsNy

But again, this is a policy specific to the Google Bard or Generative AI features and what you can’t use it for.
Google Search has its own mechanisms to try not to show content in the search results that “misinform, misrepresent or mislead” in “sensitive areas” like “health, finance, government services, or legal.” Even if that content is generated by AI or by humans.
And that is what Google’s latest stance on using AI content for your site, it doesn’t matter if AI or humans write it, it has to come out in a way that is helpful and useful to users.
Oh, the Generative AI prohibited use policy also prohibits you use it to:
- Misrepresentation of the provenance of generated content by claiming content was created by a human, or represent generated content as original works, in order to deceive
- Promoting or facilitating the generation or distribution of spam
- Generating content for deceptive or fraudulent activities, scams, phishing, or malware.
And more…

Google Search Featured Snippets Tests Define Option On Words

Google is testing the ability to click on a word in a featured snippet within Google Search and define that word. You can also copy the word, if you want. I think this is a Google Search test and maybe not a Chrome test.
Detta upptäcktes av Punit som publicerade en video av detta i aktion på Twitter, here is a screenshot of this video:
Here is the video embed:
Google added “define” option to know definition of selected Term (popup)

The reason I think this is a Google Search test and not a Chrome test is because he lost his Google session and was not able to trigger it again. I can be wrong and this might be a Chrome test and not a Google Search test.
Google is also testing this in other areas of the search results:
Google SERP is testing define options for the definition of limited search terms. Define options are shown in featured snippets, people also ask, Sponsored ads, organic results description & Local business. Have you seen this.

Google säger att du inte väljer en billig domän på toppdomäner som är överfyllda med skräppost

Google’s John Mueller said on Reddit, when it comes to SEO, do not pick a cheap domain on a TLD that is overrun with spam.
The question on Reddit was, “Does it matter for SEO if my site is .com / .site /or any other?” The individual added, “I still have the feeling that my site is not well indexed and wondering if the domain address can be the issue.”
John’s response makes it sound like the .site TLD is a spammy TLD that is a bit overrun by spammy sites.
So be careful which TLD you buy your new domain on, not all are equal.
How do you know which TLDs are spammy? Well, Spamhaus.org has a lot.

Google Working On AdSense & Google Analytics 4 Connector

Google posted an update that it is currently working on linking your Google AdSense account with your Google Analytics 4 property as it offers with Universal Analytics 3.
The update was posted in this AdSense help document at the top and reads, “Google Analytics 4 update: We’re currently working on an update to allow you to link your AdSense account with Google Analytics 4. We’ll let you know when it’s ready. In the meantime, we encourage you to continue making the switch to GA4.”
This was spotted by Charles Farina on Friday who posted this screenshot of it on Twitter:
