Social Media has fun with Trump ‘Superhero’ trading cards

Cards cost only “$99 each and ‘would make a great Christmas gift,” says former president in a major announcement video.
After getting all his loyal followers excited about a major announcement for Thursday, Donald Trump surprised everyone with a commercial, selling a “digital trading card collection” featuring none other than himself.
This is worse than supposedly buying a movie from Amazon, HBO/Max, or Netflix. You will be able to watch it over and over – BUT you do not have it in your hands. And this is supposed to be a collectible?
According to The Hill, Trump boasted that the digital trading cards “feature amazing ART of my Life & Career!” and compared them to a baseball card, “but hopefully much more exciting.” The cards are on sale for $99 each.
Bear in mind that the digital trading cards are a hell of a lot more than the $20 that Mr. Trump often asks his supporters to contribute.
The cards are supposedly not tied to Trump’s election campaign, but really were touted as a major announcement on his social media platform. When it came down to the actual announcement, though, the big reveal elicited mockery from liberals and disbelief from conservatives.
“Thank God, the digital trading cards are here. It was indeed a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT.” Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro tweeted.
“Trump’s major announcement is childish. Actual adults will see this as bizarre & troubling. A FPOTUS cranking this crap out? I can only imagine that our enemies are excited about Trump possibly being back in the office,” former Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-Va.) tweeted.
Money from the digital cards will be pocketed by Trump under a licensing deal, a fact that some of his aides acknowledged and expressed concern about. They worry that the move could dilute small-dollar donations to his presidential effort.
Buying the cards gives people a chance at being in sweepstakes where they might get to meet Mr. Trump or golf at one of his properties. Customers who buy 45 cards can receive a ticket to a gala at a Trump resort in South Florida.
“I’ll also be doing Zoom calls, one-on-one meetings, autographing memorabilia and so much more,” Mr. Trump says in the video.
