Google Restricts Free Use of Nano Banana Pro Image Generation Due to High Demand
Google Limits Free Usage of Nano Banana Pro Image Generator
Google is making changes to its Nano Banana Pro image generator. This comes after a lot of people wanted to use it. Unfortunately, if you wanted to create fun, silly images this holiday weekend with it, there is some bad news.
According to a support document, Google now allows free users to generate only two images each day. This is a change from the previous limit of three images a day. Google explained that “image generation and editing is in high demand.” They also mentioned that these limits might change often and will reset every day.
Gemini 3 Pro Restrictions
It seems that Google is also putting limits on its Gemini 3 Pro model for free users. The document states that non-paying users will get basic access, and like before, daily limits may change frequently. When Google first launched Gemini 3 Pro on November 18, they allowed five free prompts each day, which was similar to their earlier model, Gemini 2.5 Pro.
For those who pay for Google AI Pro or AI Ultra plans, the usage limits remain the same. Users on these plans can still generate 100 and 500 prompts per day, respectively.
A Trend in Tech
Google isn’t the only company to set stricter limits after a popular release. For instance, OpenAI also delayed the rollout of its image generator feature for free users when it became more popular than expected. However, eventually, OpenAI allowed free users to access image generation.
In short, the changes to Google’s image generators mean that free users need to adjust their expectations. While it’s still possible to create images, you’ll need to be mindful of the new limits.
