Throughout my life, I’ve brushed aside the notion that building a personal brand isn’t rocket science.
Yet, for years, I’ve been confused about how to build one. I’ve wondered about the effort and time it takes to do so.
After 7 months of writing every day, I think I have an idea.
Most of the time, you avoid seeing the stragglers and only pay attention to the winners who capture your attention. The actual effort required to the pinnacle is missed by most of us making us feel it is an easy journey.
Most people writing on the internet will never make it. Why? Because writing into the void of the internet can be lonely and discouraging.
Most people quit long before they experience traction on their social media profiles.
Building a brand requires you to tick several boxes. It’s natural to be engulfed with your negative thoughts, especially if you haven’t written or created content before.
Lack of consistency, direction, engagement, experience, ideas, etc. are a few reasons people live a start-stop life on the internet.
The 21st century is the “Fast Era”. We’re accustomed to quick results with everything we do. Without it, staying dedicated and on track towards your goal is a challenge most fail at.
So, if you’re new to writing or want to create your own personal brand, let me paint you a picture.
Before We Begin
I started my writing journey on Quora before moving to Medium full-time. Since moving to Medium, my approach has been to publish articles on Medium and duplicate them on Quora.
Feature-wise both platforms operate differently. When compared, Medium makes it harder to evaluate your stats. Quora is a lot more user-friendly.
