“Spent last couple of days painting cabinets with Kmart chalk paint and sealing with polyurethane,” she wrote in the post.
“Re-did counter tops in marble vinyl and already had the adhesive tiles on from before.
“I’m very happy with my efforts.”
Kmart Chalk Paint comes in a range of colours including white, black, gold, pink and green — the colour the woman chose for her kitchen.
A 500mL can of the Kmart chalk paint costs $10.
For the bench tops, the woman laid Kmart Vinyl Adhesive (Marble), which costs $3.75 a 2m roll.
The pictures of the results speak for themselves.
Fellow Kmart enthusiasts were blown away with the transformation.
“Your kitchen looks so fresh. Well done,” said one person.
“I can’t believe the transformation — it’s truly beautiful,” another wrote.
“This looks like A LOT of work and effort, you should be so proud. It’s an amazing facelift and I love the colour,” a third said.
Some people had some questions on how the woman pulled off the budget makeover.
“Is the chalk paint quite strong in smell? I have areas I want to paint but I’d have to do it in the house, don’t want to inhale all the fumes though!”
But the woman reassured them she “couldn’t really smell” the paint.
She also explained later in the comments that she sanded the surfaces before painting, and used a roller for the clear coat of polyurethane to finish the job.
Kmart $6 bathroom reno
Kmart shoppers are always looking for cost-effective ways to transform their living spaces into show-stopping rooms.
Last week, A Kmart shopper shared the bargain items that helped her transform her bathroom, leaving hundreds stunned and impressed.
The woman shared before and after photos of her vanity and cabinet on the popular Facebook group Kmart Hacks & Decor.
“Gotta love Kmart,” she wrote in the post.
The before bathroom sported a maroon vanity and cream-coloured cabinets.
However, with a couple of vinyl wraps, her bathroom is given a new and improved facelift.
“Definitely painting the benchtop next time as the vinyl wrap took forever. Still happy with the finish though,” she wrote.
The woman used Kmart’s Adhesive Vinyls, with Oak Woodgrain, which costs as little as $3 a roll, to wrap around her cabinets.
She also used what’s believed to be the Marble wrap, priced at $3.75 a roll, for the counter top.
