SERPed.net Spring 2021 Update š± New Features, Improvementsā¦
Time flies when you’re busy, doesn’t it?
Wellā¦ It’s already Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and thus time for us to give you a quick recap of all the new features and improvements released over the past few weeks.
Before we start, here is our Winter update in case you haven’t read it yet. We also released a new SEO Audit tool, which offers more flexibility and opportunities. You can read more about it hereā¦
Site Manager
New Google Graph
We added a new graph to the Page Stats section in Site Manager.
This graph combines data from Google My Business, Google Search Console and Google Analytics, as you can see below:
First, you will need to connect to these services in Site Manager.
- To connect to Google My Business, open Site Manager and select a site. Then open the āGMB Statsā tab and click on āConnect Nowā. Tick āYesā next to āIs this a physical business registered in Google My Business?ā and click on āConnect to Google My Businessā.
- To connect to Google Search Console, open Site Manager and select a site. Then open the āGSC Statsā tab and click on āConnect Nowā. Finally, click on the blue + button and follow the on-screen instructions.
- To connect to Google Analytics, open Web Analytics and click on the blue + button. Then select a site and tick the āGoogle Analyticsā radio button. Finally, click on āSign in with Googleā and follow the on-screen instructions.
Once connected, you will be able to select the variables you want to see in the graph, as shown in the screenshot above.
Please note that this Google graph can be includedĀ in the reports that you generate in Site Reports.
This graph is also available in SERPed Agency, which means that you can add it as a widget, so your clients can see it in their respective client dashboard. Don’t have the Agency add-on yet? Click here to learn moreā¦
Content Curator
New AI Search
We added a new āAI Searchā option to Content Curator, meaning that you can now get articles generated with the help of Artificial Intelligence.
This new feature is still in beta, but if you’re looking for content, for your blog networks or even niche sites, we highly recommend that you give it a try.
Citation Scanner & Competitor Citations
New Citation Sources
We added about 20 new citation sources to Citation Scanner and Competitor Citations.
As a reminder, Citation Scanner is a tool that scans directories and similar platforms to find out where any given business is listed, and where it should be but isn’t, while Competitor Citations is a tool that allows you to compare the citations of any local business listed in Google vs. their top competitors.
Site Explorer
New Export Options
We added new export options to the View Backlinks section in Site Explorer. You can now export the list of backlinks as a CSV, PDF or XLS file.
Site Auditor Pro
New Unsubscribe Option
We added an unsubscribe option to Site Auditor Pro, as you can see below:
If you tick this box, the following sentence will be added at the bottom of the email your leads will receive:
If you want to unsubscribe and not receive any more emails from us, please email us at (COMPANY_EMAIL)
You can edit this sentence of course.
If someone asks to unsubscribe, make sure you unsubscribe him/her from your future mailings in your autoresponder.
New GDPR Compliance Options
We also added several options to the GDPR Compliance section, to help you with compliance.
These are suggestions that you can add to the Optin Form to take into account GDPR requirements for EU visitors. We do not guarantee that by adding them you will be fully GDPR compliant.

The Industry Mourns The Loss Of Mark Irvine
I am deeply sad to report that Mark Irvine passed away unexpectedly last night. Mark was deeply involved in the search marketing community, known as being a brilliant paid search specialist who always spent his time helping others over his long career in the space.
Mark has been in the search marketing industry for well over a decade, seven years at WordStream and the last four or so years at SearchLab. He was always a bright and welcoming smile at industry events, sharing advice with colleagues and friends.
Navah Hopkins worked with Mark for many years and she sent me the following message:

These were the words Mark would always say to me when we worked together. Yet he was incapable of doing less. He brought so much love and care to everything he did.
I was lucky enough to work with Mark directly for about 5 years, and counted him a friend since then. Beyond being a brilliant data scientist and a natural leader, Mark was one of the most human humans Iāve ever known. He understood people at a fundamental level and always made sure others around him could shine.
Mark would often say that I was his dedicated PR team and even as Iām writing this detailing his accomplishments and his amazing (and all together too short) life, I can hear him laughing that Iām doing it again. Well – toughā¦just enjoy the love we have for you and sip those heavenly pumpkin spice lattes.
Mark was always put data first behind every major project at WordStream, Navah told me. He was a worldly person who traveled abroad to speak at many events. He was really good at connecting with people abroad. Mark was named the #1 PPC influencer in 2019 and was consistently was on that list year-after-year. PPCHero has recognized him as one of the top PPC Influencers every year since 2015, as did Microsoft and in 2019.

Google Recrawls URLs At Different Rates: Multiple Times Per Day To Every Few Months
Google has to crawl the web to build its index for it to provide search results. And since webpages and documents get updated, Google needs to recrawl those URLs from time to time. Google will recrawl URLs at different rates, said John Mueller of Google. -
Google AdSense Has Removed Privacy Policy As Place To Withdraw Consent
Google AdSense has removed reference to your privacy policy as a place to withdraw consent. AdSense now has clarified that the revocation link at the bottom of the page should say “Privacy and cookie settings”. -

Google Interested In Hreflang Alternatives
Gary Illyes from Google said he has heard from the SEO industry that hreflang can be “annoying” and complex and confusing. So he is open to ideas on how to replace it and make it work for both small and really large websites.
He wrote this on LinkedIn saying, “Things I’ve learned and heard in Sofia at the SERPConf event.” He said one of those is that “hreflang is annoying.”
Gary wrote, “I don’t disagree,” that I guess he understands why SEOs and creators find it annoying.
So he said that he open to new ideas. He wrote, “I’m still very open to coming up with something less annoying, but it needs to work for small sites and mammoths as well, while delivering at least the same amount of information.”
So if you have ideas, let Gary know, he wrote, “Ping if you have ideas.”
You can use hreflang to tell Google about the variations of your content. This helps Google understand the various pagesĀ and how they are localized variations of the same content. But the implementation can be confusing and detailed, why he said it can be annoying. Several years ago, John Mueller said hreflang can be the most complex aspect in SEO.
