google launches a new version of the removals report in search console

Google last week launched a new version of the Removals report in Search Console. The Removals report in Search Console enables webmasters to block pages or images from appearing in Google Search results, to tell Google that the results in search are outdated or see the pages filtered by SafeSearch requests.

Temporary removals

According to Google, a temporary removal request is a way to remove specific content on your site from Google Search results. The request lasts for about six months and clear the cached copy of the page. Tali Pruss, Search Console Software Engineer at Google, wrote that the option to Clear Cache URL clears the cached page and wipes out the page description snippet in Search results until the page is crawled again.

Temporary Removals

Outdated content

The Outdated Content section shows removal requests made through the Remove Outdated Content tool, which can be used by anyone.

SafeSearch filtering

The SafeSearch filtering section shows a history of pages that were reported by Google users as adult content using the SafeSearch Suggestion tool.

In order to avoid the indexing of pages by Google, Webmasters can use the noindex meta tag or the robots.txt rules.
