Google Rolls Out AI Mode Info Monitoring To All Users Globally

Google has launched a new feature called information monitoring in AI Mode, which is now available to all users worldwide. This feature continuously checks for updates on topics or events that users want to get information about. While users are searching, Google Search will also suggest relevant tasks.

What is Information Monitoring?

Robby Stein, the Vice President of Product for Google Search, announced the feature on Monday. Previously, only Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers could use this feature.

In a demonstration video, a user asks AI Mode to monitor weekend pop-up events. The AI sets a task to keep the user updated about vintage markets and pop-ups in Austin. It lists specific items it will monitor, such as flea markets and block parties.

Stein explained, “Just tell AI Mode exactly what to look for, and Search will continuously check for information on the web, including sites, forums, and social media. It will keep you updated with fresh info.”

How It Differs from Previous Launches

Earlier this year, Google announced at the I/O event that information agents would initially be available only to Pro and Ultra subscribers during the summer. The June launch limited access to Ultra subscribers in various languages and markets.

The recent rollout is being called “info monitoring capabilities” and is available globally, although it doesn’t specify which languages or when Pro access began.

Why is This Important?

Robby Stein gave examples of what users might want to monitor: new restaurants, local holiday activities for kids, and updates on products that come back in stock or drop in price. These are topics that many people frequently check.

In a past post from June, Stein mentioned that updates could include links to relevant websites, but the recent announcement does not clarify this. Local businesses may not yet understand how often their sites will appear in updates.

What’s Next?

Stein encouraged users to try the new monitoring feature in the Google app. He hinted that there will be more updates in the future. Once the feature is available on your account, you can set up a monitoring task within the app to see how it works.

Google’s I/O announcement previously discussed the creation and management of search agents for various tasks, now beginning with information agents.

In conclusion, this new feature is designed to keep users informed about the topics they care about and will enhance the search experience on Google.
