Instagram’s US user growth continues to drop due to the lack of older age groups

eMarketer last week reported that Instagram’s US user growth rate will have dropped to single digits for the first time to 6.7%, last year, down from 10.1% in 2018.

eMarketer estimated that Instagram will grow slower than previously expected. eMarketer expects a growth of 4.5% in 2020, revised down from 5.4%, and in 2021, eMarketer expects a growth of 3.2% instead of 4.1%.

eMarketer says that older age groups are not joining the platform as quickly as anticipated.
