Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.

Google has now documented its ranking updates/systems that they are using and some notable ones that were retired. Google also added a new search spam policy named policy circumvention. Google’s Gary Illyes asked for URLs that should be indexed but are discovered and not indexed. Google said the last batch of sites not on mobile-first indexing will be moved over soon. Google Says Google Ads Can See A Significant Performance Impact By Not Migrating To GA4

Published

on

Google Analytics 4 Ads Performance 640

As we approach the Google Analytics 4 migration deadline, Google Ads Liaison, Ginny Marvin reminds advertisers that some “advertisers could see a significant performance impact” in their ad campaigns if they do not migrate.

Ginny wrote this on Twitter, first talking about the Google Analytics 4 deadline, saying “the GA4 deadline is fast approaching. Universal Analytics properties will stop processing new data on July 1.” Ginny added, “that means new data will stop flowing from UA properties into Google Ads which could significantly impact campaign performance.”

Later, Scott Redgate asked about that, saying “for advertisers who are currently pulling in conversions from UA, and don’t upgrade, spend in campaigns like PMAX will drastically decrease if target ROAS/CPA is set (as system won’t detect any conversions). That could potentially have huge implications for Google’s revenue?”

Ginny responded to this saying, yes, it can. “Advertisers could see significant performance impact if their conversion bidding is still set to UA after July 1. We encourage customers to migrate on their own now to be sure everything is properly transferred to GA4,” she wrote.

So you better migrate to GA4 by July 1, before it impacts your Google Ads performance.

Google Business Profiles New Manage Menu Feature

Published

on

Google Restaurant Menu

Google Business Profiles seems to have launched a new manage menu feature for restaurants in the web version of the business profile tool. It opens a “your menu on Google” box that lets you either manually build your custom menu in Google or link to your third-party menu partner.

Here is a screenshot from Tim Capper on Twitter who wrote, “New select your preferred menu source for restaurants.”

Yes, you had these options in the old Business Profile section but the user interface is new here within the new user experience to update your local business profile in Google.

Also, maybe a new menu snippet in Google?

Bing Chat Image Creator Now Works In Creative Mode

Bing Robot Creating Art 640

A few days ago, I reported that Bing Chat has now integrated the Bing Image Creator tool. But the truth is, it was not integrated, not until at least after 4:30 pm ET yesterday, March 23rd. It now works in Bing Chat under “Creative” mode.

I have been trying it every few hours since it launched, and finally, at 4:30 pm ET last night, it began to work. Later last night, Bing even posted a more detailed blog post about this feature.

Here is an image of [a flower in mud] it made for me (click to enlarge):

To compare, this is what MidJourney made for me:

In any event, this was not launched when it was announced but Microsoft’s Mikhail Parakhin did say that on Twitter a few times. He said it on March 22nd, the day after it was announced, “Folks, we are aware that Bing Image Creator is overly restrictive with sensitive queries, had to be on the safe side at launch. As we gather feedback, we will be gradually fixing those issues. And it should be fully coming to Bing Chat tomorrow, fingers crossed.”

He then said it yesterday as well in this tweet:

It going live:

Here is a technical quirk about this image creator:

Now it is live – so have fun!
