Google Says Ignore Threats For Dofollow Links


Google’s John Mueller said you can ignore threats and blackmail emails from people who demand do-follow links. John said on Reddit when asked about these threats “ignore it, it’s just spam.”

The email received by this person contained this threat:

…If I do not seeing a backlink in one week, I am create million toxic blog comment spam and redirect backlink to codeforest.net and you can saying goodbye to your Google rankings for 1 year or more.

I trust you making correct decision…

He asked, what can he do about it?

I assume most of you who get these emails, those emails get caught by spam and you do nothing about it anyway. But if you do get those emails, just delete them and don’t worry about it.

At least, that is what Google recommends and has been for years and years.

Google Discover Showing Author Names Over Site Name

Google Adds New Author Markup Best Practices For Article Structured Data

Google Discover can now show the author name of a specific story instead of showing the site name under the story. I personally do not use Google Discover much but a couple of savvy Google Discover users noticed this over the weekend.

Jordan SEO spotted it first and posted this example on Twitter:

Then Glenn Gabe responded noticing it for a story that showed up in his feed as well, with his name instead of his site name. Here is what that looks like:

What do you prefer, the author name or the site name for articles in the Google Discover feed?

Why is Google showing the author’s name? That is hard to know but Google is always testing. Here are some theories:
