'Demon' Dog Ralphie Returned to Shelter Again After Third Unsuccessful Adoption

Ralphie, a New York shelter ‘demon’ dog who recently went viral for finally being adopted, has been returned to the shelter once again after he “proved to be more than she could handle.”

“Ralphie proved to be more than she could handle,” the shelter explained in an update posted to Facebook.

Raphie first went viral after the Niagara SPCA posted a hilarious animal adoption post on their Facebook page.

“Meet Ralphie. At first glance, he’s an adorable highly sought after, young dog. People should be banging down our doors for him. We promise you, that won’t be the case. Ralphie is a terror in a somewhat small package. What could go wrong with a 26lb dog, right? We’re sure you’re thinking: my ankles will be just fine. We’d caution- proceed at your own risk,” the shelter wrote.

Unfortunately, Ralphie’s third adoption was unsuccessful after the family said training was not working.

“What they actually meant was: Ralphie is a fire-breathing demon and will eat our dog, but hey, he’s only 26lbs,” reads a Facebook post from the Niagara SPCA.

The pup is now enrolled in an intensive six-week boarding and training program, and they will start vetting new potential adopters while he is taking the class. Adopters who aren’t intimidated by Ralphie can apply to adopt him with a letter of interest and a  “dog experience ‘resume,’” according to the Facebook post.

The shelter is also raiding money to cover the $6,000 tuition for the training program

“No one likes that it didn’t work out for Ralphie, but he will receive the training he needs,” shelter employees added in the post.
