Get Ready for the Next Esports WRC Season with WRC 8
Following an intense season involving 12 challenges over eight months, the time has come for the final of the esports WRC Powered by Hyundai, with nine qualifiers vying for the title, including Jon Armstrong, 2018 World Champion, and Lohan “Nexl” Blanc, the 2017 winner.
The nine best players in the world are invited to the Wales Rally GB (October 3 to October 6) to compete in the grand final, at the heart of the action. On Saturday, October 5, during the day’s competition, each esports player will compete in eight qualification stages to see who is best. Only four drivers will go on to the grand final, which will be held the same day (at 6 p.m. local time), over three special stages.
For the 4th season, Hyundai is offering the winner a Hyundai i20 road car, worth 20,000€ and an unforgettable co-drive experience with Dani Sordo in Spain, in the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC.
The esports WRC competition gathers every year the best off-road drivers which are already looking forward to the 5th season, starting in January 2020.
WRC 8 is the official game of the FIA World Rally Championship, featuring a huge selection of WRC, WRC 2 and Junior WRC drivers as well as a few historic and iconic models to challenge your skills. Talent and concentration will be needed to overcome over 100 special stages taking place across 14 countries on gravel, snow, dirt and tarmac.
Thanks to community feedback and pointers from esports WRC professionals, development studio KT Racing has improved all aspects of the game: better graphics, more technical routes, smoother pace notes, and a more comprehensive career mode.
Dynamic weather system
Our new dynamic weather system can change driving conditions while you’re in a special stage, greatly increasing in-game realism. To face this challenge and make up for the modified grip, adjust your car settings, optimize your tire selection and manage your team efficiently so they give you the latest information on upcoming conditions.
New Career mode
For the first time in the series, the new Career Mode in WRC 8 allows you to become the manager of a WRC team. KT Racing has followed several teams in different real life rallies to capture the key aspects of a successful WRC season. To progress in the different WRC categories and ultimately become the world champion, you must excel in three major areas:
- Plan your calendar: Decide which events to do in-between rallies: training, manufacturer challenges, rest, classic events, etc. Earn money and experience after each event and spend it to improve your crew and tune your performance.
- Manage a whole crew: you must consider each of their team members’ unique characteristics and use them strategically in each rally. KT Racing has identified 6 key jobs (mechanic, engineer, meteorologist, financial director, physiotherapist, and agent) that will need to be managed in working time to ensure that you’re racing at peak performance.
- Upgrade your crew: Your skill tree evolves depending on player choices. Every decision impacts progression and the morale of your crew (performance, reliability, etc.). You can choose you team and modify it, with each change affecting your skill tree.
All this comes in addition to series landmarks and new features: start a Season to focus on rallying, hone your driving skills in Training, reach the top of the leaderboards in timed Challenges, challenge a friend in local Split-screen multiplayer, try your new car settings in the Test Area, race other drivers in Online multiplayer, and more.
